ComentariosJust wanted to share a quick heads-up for anyone importing football boots to Mexico. My experience with ZenMarket itself was great—their buying and packing process went smoothly and the prepaid DDP taxes were fully honored with no double charges at the border. The boots are amazing.
However, there is an issue with how FedEx handles shoe shipments right now.
Even though I used FEDEX_FICP with prepaid taxes, FedEx flew the package into the Toluca customs hub. Because of Mexico's "Anexo 21" trade rules, Toluca is not legally allowed to clear footwear anymore. To fix their routing mistake, FedEx had to put my boots on a secure truck and drive them all the way to the Guadalajara customs hub to clear them there.
This detour caused a pretty big delay and FedEx charged me an extra USD 25.44 (around $500 MXN) for "handling and land transit" when the courier dropped off the box.
ZenMarket did a great job and none of this is their fault, but I'm leaving this feedback so their team is aware. Hopefully, they can nudge FedEx Japan to stop routing shoe shipments through Toluca flights, since it messes up the whole point of paying the DDP taxes upfront. If you are buying boots, just be prepared for a potential delay or a random extra fee from FedEx at your door. |
