Japan Post will temporarily suspend acceptance of certain international mail shipments using the Import One-Stop Shop (IOSS) system to several European Union destinations.
This is due to ongoing operational disruptions during customs processing of IOSS shipments in the affected countries. ZenMarket is already experiencing a high rate of returned parcels for some destinations.
As a result, Japan Post shipping will become unavailable on different dates depending on the destination. Customers wishing to use Japan Post should ensure that their parcel is fully prepared for dispatch before the applicable deadline.
We are monitoring the situation closely and will continue updating this page as new information becomes available.
Affected Destinations
Japan Post shipments will no longer be available for the following destinations.
Suspension from July 20th, 2026
- Austria
- Denmark
- Germany
- Portugal
Due to the continued high number of returned parcels, ZenMarket will stop shipping Japan Post IOSS parcels to these destinations ahead of Japan Post's official suspension.
Suspension from July 24th, 2026
- Belgium
- Finland
- France
- Luxembourg
UPDATE (August 28th, 2026): Following the successful delivery of some parcels to Belgium, Finland, France, and Luxembourg, mail shipments to these four destinations have been re-enabled.
Please note that according to Japan Post themselves officially acceptance is still suspended, so although it is possible to select mail options for these destinations they do still carry some degree of risk of return. We ask you to carefully consider the potential risk of return before deciding to ship your parcels. In the event that they are returned for reasons outside of ZenMarket's control, we will not be able to provide reimbursement.
For this reason we still recommend shipping with a different method if possible.
Important Shipping Deadlines
The dates above refer to the last available dispatches. To use Japan Post, your parcel must be fully packed, paid for, have a shipping method selected, and all required shipping information completed before the applicable deadline.

Current Shipping Status
Due to the continued high return rate, ZenMarket has decided to suspend Japan Post shipments to Germany, Austria, Denmark, and Portugal ahead of Japan Post's official suspension.
For Belgium, Finland, France, and Luxembourg, Japan Post shipments have been re-enabled, though as there has been no official announcement from Japan Post, parcels shipped to these destination still carry risk of being returned.
Based on the information currently available, parcels dispatched before the applicable deadline are expected to proceed normally. However, international shipping conditions may change without notice, and delays or returned parcels may still occur.
If you experience an issue with a parcel that has already been shipped, please contact Customer Support so that our team can investigate your shipment.
Customers shipping to affected destinations are encouraged to review their current parcels and consider the following options:
- Evaluate alternative carriers: Use our Shipping Calculator to see whether carriers such as DHL, FedEx, or ECMS are currently available for your destination.
- Update your shipping method: If an alternative shipping option is available, you can change your preferred shipping method from the "Parcels" page in your ZenMarket account.
- Wait for Japan Post service to resume: If you prefer to use Japan Post, your parcel may remain in our warehouse until the suspension is lifted. Please note that standard storage fees and storage policies will continue to apply.
- Add more items to your parcel: If your parcel exceeds the €150 limit for using IOSS, you will still be able to use Japan Post, though these parcels are subject to regular customs clearance upon reception, meaning regular customs duties and VAT will be collected upon reception.
Conclusion
We understand that these temporary suspensions may cause inconvenience for customers shipping to the affected destinations. Our team is closely monitoring updates from Japan Post and will continue to adjust our operations as necessary.
We will continue to post updates as soon as new information becomes available. For the latest official information, please refer to the Japan Post announcement.
