Neon Genesis Evangelion

Neon Genesis Evangelion (新世紀エヴァンゲリオン, Shin Seiki Evangelion) is a mecha manga written and illustrated by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, that has been adapted into anime by Tatsunoko Pro and directed by Hideaki Anno.

The story takes place in futuristic fortified city of Tokyo-3 fifteen years after the global cataclysm known as the Second Impact and revolves around the Nerv organization defending mankind from the attack of mysterious alien beings known as "Angels" with giant biomechanical robots named "Evangelions", piloted by 14-year-old teenagers, one of whom is protagonist Shinji Ikari, recruited by his father Gendo.
