世界的芸術家、葛飾北斎。その『富嶽三十六景』中の『遠江山中』です。龍香堂と親交の有る版画研究室から買い取りました。北斎の描いた富士の自然な美を、手摺木版で忠実に復刻した作品です。

●「富嶽三十六景」四十六枚は、古来日本人のすべてに愛され親しまれてきた富士山を中心に、自然界の風景を幾何学的要素に還元して見る手法を縦横に駆使し、清新な色調で組絵の面白さを求めた傑作で、北斎五十年間の画業は、まさに此処に凝縮されていたと言えます。

【作品解説】遠江山中（とおうみさんちゅうView in the mountains of Totomi Province）
遠江国(静岡県)の山中で、巨大な材木に乗って上から、あるいは材木の下から大鋸を挽き、鋸の目立てをする木挽き職人たち。左から右へ大胆に対角線に大きな材木を描き、1人は上から、1人は下から木挽がその巨材を挽いている。雲ひとつない青空の高さ、そこに漂う焚火の煙は輪郭を摺り残してぼかしを入れた木版画独特の表現が施されている。その一家の木挽きの働く姿が如実であるが、これが巨材を支える三又の足場、その間に富士山の姿と、三角形を駆使して作り上げたこの奇抜な幾何学的構図は、一種の機構美を我々に感じさせ場面の妙を一層引き立てている。
